Amy E. Olson

I have 24 years of experience as an attorney and litigator, having been an Assistant McLeod County Attorney for that amount of time.  While my work as an Assistant McLeod County Attorney over the years encompassed all areas of practice, I particularly focused on child protection cases, because I truly enjoy working with families.  As a result of my work in child protection, I am very experienced in working with families facing issues of high conflict, poverty, mental illness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, special needs in children, child development, trauma, etc.  I am familiar with the services needed and available to address these issues in families.

As an Assistant McLeod County Attorney, I also focused on prosecution of crimes with children as victims, sexual and physical abuse. During the prosecution of those cases, I worked closely with child victims, including preparing them for testimony and taking their testimony in court.  I am a trained child forensic interviewer.

Additionally, I have 24 years of experience handling county initiated paternity establishments and child support (establishment, modification and contempt) hearings.

I am very excited to begin this next chapter of my career.  I am uniquely qualified for this important work.  I love working with people, and I want to help them.  I also want to provide affordable, high quality, and needed services.

I live in rural Hutchinson, with my husband and three children.
